The Launchkey 61 MK3 has been upgraded with some groundbreaking features designed to help you get the most from Ableton Live. Novation has also added additional music production software to give you even more tools straight out of the box.
If you are music producer without any prior training in musical theory, then this keyboard has been improved to help you understand keys, scales, chords much easier. This leaves you with the ability to experiment further in your compositions. The eight scale modes transpose notes to the scale you select. Meaning you will only be able to create melodies with notes that are harmonically compatible to that scale.
The custom mode function allows you to create your own custom mappings that are perfect for your production style and workflow. Assign knobs and faders to default macros in Ableton for quick mixing. Customise your MIDI signal routing - great for modular and hardware synth fanatics. Change pad colours to your taste - perfect for live performers that need to section multiple instruments and channels in Ableton. As this is the largest model in the series, the 61 also comes with nine faders. You can assign these for mixing purposes or automating effects sends offering you great hands-on control.
Novation has also included free instruments and software from some of the worlds best manufacturers of software instruments. Free Ableton Live Lite means you can sequence and compose fully-fledged tracks. XLN Audio, Klevgrand, and AAS. For the first time ever, Novation has teamed up with Spitfire Audio to give users a free and exclusive string library as part of their LABS range. This is a professional grade sample library that for any budding film composers is a must-have.
With this being the largest size in the launch key series, the 61 key model is perfect for those from a traditional music theory background. If you are a live performer, you can use the Launchkey 61 to control hardware instruments like vintage synths. This controller allows you to bridge the gap by using this to send MIDI information to any synths with MIDI inputs.
The general build of this keyboard controller is excellent for individuals that require a keyboard for production and performance. If you produce in Ableton Live, the MK3 comes with controls that are designed to extend Ableton's functionality direct to your fingertips. Meaning you will be able to navigate all your sessions with total freedom.
